Search interest in “olive nails” and “olive green nails” has surged by 19.7% and 50.3%, respectively, across Google, TikTok, and Instagram, Spate’s trend analysis reveals. The resurgent shade—whether applied as a full, rich olive-green manicure or styled to mimic a martini garnish—continues to dominate seasonal nail trends.

Celebrities such as Meagan Good and Lili Reinhart have been spotted wearing the trend, with Good wearing a solid olive-green manicure and Reinhart’s having chrome embellishments and 3D olives. The color has also appeared on runways, with designers like Bottega Veneta, Valentino, and Ferragamo incorporating it into their fall/winter 2026 collections.

Experts predicted that olive would make its return, citing it as a warm autumn color that people naturally gravitate toward as the weather gets cooler. Andrea Forero, a Barcelona-based manicurist, notes that the color is perfect for the festivities that come with the end of the year. Miss Pop, a New York City nail artist, adds that it’s the perfect manicure for holiday party season, saying “Why not have martini nails?!” She makes this statement because the olive color is a great fit for the holiday season.

Los Angeles-based nail artist Bana Jajour says that the appeal of the olive trend has to do with its overall vibe, which exudes a feeling of luxury and sophistication. She describes the trend as “highly photogenic” and notes that it’s perfect for posting pictures on social media. Jajour’s opinion is that the trend is very visually appealing.

A nail shape can make or break a look, and experts agree that an oval shape works best with the olive trend. However, Sarah Chue, a Los Angeles manicurist, notes that the richness and depth of olive polish can also flatter square or stiletto nails. The easiest way to join in on the trend is by sweeping on a solid coat of olive-green polish, which can be found in a variety of shades to complement different skin tones.

Jajour recommends specific polishes, such as The GelBottle Inc. in Khaki for those with light and medium complexions with cool undertones, and Gel by Essie in Totally Plaid for those with warm undertones. For deeper complexions with cooler undertones, she suggests OPI Nail Lacquer in Suzi First Lady of Nails. These polishes are suitable for various skin tones.

For those who love a challenge, hand-painting the garnish’s fine details can add an extra level of sophistication. Miss Pop provides pro tips, including using nail-dotting tools or bobby pins to create the base of the olive, and applying a dark green dot with a tool. She also notes that allowing each layer to dry for about 10 minutes between coats is important to achieving a flawless finish. This step is necessary for a polished look.

Painting Details

Apply a dark green dot for the base of the olive. Add a smaller dot of opaque white polish on top. This helps the pimento stand out.

Use orangey-red polish for the pimento. Apply it on top of the white dot.
