Jennifer Lawrence has launched Mes°, a hair-care line featuring three products: the Multitask Repair Mask, the Off-Duty Restyling Serum, and the Good Roots Volume Mist. The brand aims to simplify hair routines by offering dual-purpose products that style and improve hair health.

Lawrence partnered with Arcaea, a biology-focused beauty company, to co-create the brand. Arcaea’s CEO, Jasmina Aganovic, is a chemical bioengineer who has previously launched a fragrance brand using biotechnology.

The brand’s announcement was met with backlash, with some criticizing the intention behind Lawrence’s new venture. Commenters also focused on the actor’s looks, debating whether she had undergone an upper blepharoplasty.

Mes° Products

The Multitask Repair Mask is a reparative hair mask applied to dry hair, which can also be used as a styling product for a wet look. The Off-Duty Restyling Serum is a bi-phase styling serum, while the Good Roots Volume Mist is a volumizing spray that doubles as a scalp treatment.

Sarah Kinonen, beauty director, tested the Multitask Repair Mask and found it left her hair feeling soft, but didn’t align with her simple hair routine. Kassidy Silva, social director, used the mask and found it gave her hair a mini refresh, but didn’t do much heavy lifting in terms of damage repair.

Elizabeth Gulino, senior staff writer, tried the Good Roots Volume Mist and found it gave her roots a lift, but made her scalp feel damp. She had better results when using the mist on damp hair before blow-drying. Silva also tested the Good Roots Volume Mist and found it added volume to her hair, but gave it a gritty texture.

Alessandra Foresto, managing editor, was disappointed with the Off-Duty Restyling Serum, finding it left her hair frizzy and sticky. However, Gulino had a positive experience with the serum, finding it subtly tamed her flyaways and “floofs.”

The Mes° products have received mixed reviews, with some finding them effective and others disappointed.

In the context of celebrity beauty brands, Mes° is not alone in its endeavors. Other successful brands, such as Rhode and Fenty Beauty, have paved the way for celebrity-backed products. However, the market is also saturated with failed attempts, making it challenging for new brands to stand out.

For now, the focus is on the products themselves, and whether they can deliver on their promises. The Multitask Repair Mask, Off-Duty Restyling Serum, and Good Roots Volume Mist are available for purchase on the Mes° website, with prices ranging from $34 to $52.

As the Mes° brand continues to face scrutiny, its products are being put to the test by beauty experts and enthusiasts alike. While some have reported positive results, others have expressed disappointment and frustration with the products’ performance.

Evaluation and Comparison

The Good Roots Volume Mist has shown promise in adding volume, but its texture and scent have been a concern for some users. The Multitask Repair Mask has been praised for its ability to leave hair feeling soft, but its application process and results have been inconsistent.
